Allen Zhang is a chief director at Qzil.la, an anime studio based in Tokyo. He previously worked for over 7 years in the American animation industry as a storyboard artist and writer at studios like Netflix, Nickelodeon, Cartoon Network, Laika, Atomic Cartoons, and others.
His credits include ONI: Thunder God’s Tale, Nimona, Rock Dog 3, Dr. Seuss’s Red Fish Blue Fish, The Cuphead Show, Centaurworld and more. He has also contributed to early development across multiple series at Netflix, Cartoon Network Studios, and Atomic Cartoons.
Outside of animation, Allen develops graphic novels and teaches storyboarding. He is currently pitching projects with his literary agent Matt Belford, and has taught courses at Brainstorm School. He has also been an invited speaker and portfolio reviewer for organizations including CalArts, USC, RCAD, SCAD, MECA&D, and The Animation Guild.
